Wow, look! Two more people who actually did something to earn their Nobel prizes!
A different sort of food group

Protein: now a food group?
We went to McDonald’s. Kids got happy meals. Here’s a picture off the bag.
Notice the food groups identified? Fruit, grain, veggies, dairy and protein. Protein is not a food group, it’s a polypeptide chain. The word they were looking for was “meat” but for some reason they were afraid to use it, and replaced it with one of the components of meat. Coulda gone with “amino acids” too, but no.
So, why can’t a burger joint bring themselves to call meat meat? I’m guessing they did that to avoid pissing off the large number of vegans who are falling all over themselves for the opportunity to eat at McDonald’s.
I have a message for McDonald’s corporate: Vegans are not your target demographic. Omnivores are. Please stop trying to cater to people who are going to hate you anyway. It just makes you look pathetic.

The weekend getaway
Friday we drove down to E(something)ville. Evansville! I’ve been having problems with the name all weekend. Keep thinking of edwardsburg.
Anyway, on the way down we drove through the wind farm. I vaguely knew it was there, but seeing it in person was altogether different. You can spout statistics about the size of the windmills, or the number of windmills, or the amount of power they generate, but driving between these towering machines as they spin around was really beyond statistics.
Evansville seems like a nice town. It’s supposed to be the fattest city in the US, but mostly people looked pretty normal.
Holiday world was a real treat. Everything was well themed, though there were a lot of cookie cutter rides. We mostly played in the water park, but in the evening we went touring around the rest of the park. Sydney talked me into riding one of the roller coasters, even after I warned her that it wasn’t a Disney coaster. It was, however, an awesome coaster. I can see why their coasters are so highly rated.
Silver and Bronze
Alyson got silver, Sydney got bronze.
Skating
So we’re now 2 hours from the kids’ ice time. Sydney was practicing and cut herself with her skate. I think she’s OK but shook up. They’re in the locker room cleaning up.
They both seemed to be pegging their routines, but I’m not a judge.
Wolf Spider
This might be the biggest wolf spider I’ve ever seen. Yeah, I’ve seen bigger spiders, but usually the wolf spiders don’t get so… huge.
Showing off
Lesson learned
Took Friday off. So did a hard drive. Spent half the week picking up the pieces. This is probably why I get nervous about taking time off.
